While exploring an uncharted rogue planet, the Away Team encounters a group of alien hunters tracking an

woman who begs for his help. Skeptical, the hunters and the rest of the Away Team dismiss the captain’s

Historical Facts:
This is the third Trek mention of a “rogue” planet, or a planetary body that has broken away from its planetary
system. At the time of this writing, rogue planets or planetars are still only theoretical. Several astronomers claim
to have identified such objects, but those detections are unconfirmed. In 1998, David J. Stevenson authored a
paper entitled "Possibility of Life Sustaining Planets in Interstellar Space” that theorizes the possibility of life
sustaining “lost” interstellar planets wandering the universe. Many of Stevenson’s theories are used in this
episode to explain the life found on Dakala.
In this episode we learn that each of Starfleet’s Captains is honored with a custom portrait displayed at Starfleet
Academy.
Malcolm and Archer both were Eagle Scouts. Archer earned twenty-six badges but Malcolm earned twenty-eight.
The Enterprise carries Entomologists (insect studies) as part of its Bio-Sciences Division.
We also have yet another reference to the famous Jupiter Station and Trip’s camera.
The Eska have been coming to this Rogue Planet for nine generations to hunt. Hunting went out of style on Earth
a hundred years before this.
The poem that Archer refers to as the origin of his mystery woman, “The Song of the Wandering Aengus” by
William Butler Yeats, is a work from the book “The Wind Among the Reeds” published in 1899.
The Song of Wandering Aengus
I WENT out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun
